the move-save-win project

by Livedrive

over 120 years, the automotive industry has wisely created and feed a whole socioeconomic culture around the car that pushes people to almost compulsively buy it

Henry Ford

OUR APPROACH

Along +15 years of R&DD we demonstrated that

change the culture How we Buy, Use, and Drive a car – produces savings of +30% both in External and Internal Road Mobility Costs

applying the “right incentive-charging models” in road transport policies is the most efficient way to get those savings

Facing the true costs of EU Transport, Violeta Bulc, the European Commissionaires for Transport said

“…helped to define the right incentives and charging models in order to promote a level-playing field among transport modes, as well as support our goal of zero roads deaths by 2050

and Livedrive proposes to

transform Road Transport External Costs’

savings-excesses in the right incentives-charging

public policies

Livedrive project solutions will provide road transport

External Costs savings

€ 670 /vehicle/year

that becomes

public incentive baseline

Internal Costs savings

€ 785 /vehicle/year

SMART CITIES

to do immediately

A Livedrive partner

beyond simply subsidy a bike purchase an anti-fraud system that allows a municipality, a company, or a school to pay monetary incentives to people who use their bicycles to go-come to work and go-come to-school, shopping…

it allows citizens to receive between € 0,20 and € 0,25 per km biking in their home/school and home/work routes

The Livedrive proposal

is to extend this gamification  concept to any sustainable mobility action

LIVEDRIVE

Driving Scores

how it works

objectively stating how good or bad a car driver is, rating him on a scale, has always been controversial

what is a 100% score?

the best driver…?

and 0%…?  the worst one…?

Energy | Fuel | GHG

qCO2 = cf / hf  MCO2 /Mm

1 Kg of gasoline or diesel

= 3.17 Kg of CO2

Applies to fuel burned in the car

For the the entire life-cycle of fuel the value is 3,997 Kg of CO2

“Car fuel consumption is not measured; it is calculated”

1

2

let’s take 2 examples to see how our driving scoring system works

1

According to the above formula, a BMW 116 diesel driven in a way that emits the homologated 103 g of CO2 per km shall consume 3.8 l / 100 km of fuel – can you do it…?

2

According to the above formula, a BMW 116 diesel driven in a way that emits the homologated 103 g of CO2 per km shall consume 3.8 l / 100 km of fuel – can you do it…?

How to right compare scores?

Decontextualizing

context – we remove it from the equation: car characteristics as weight, power, fuel… and road ones as curve radius, slopes, traffic intensity, road type (urban, interurban, hi-way)… providing a unique way to really compare driving styles, energy consumptions and emissions

Reducing all driving data information to the same  “standard car”, and then comparing

1 Kg of gasoline or diesel

= 3.17 Kg of CO2

(applies to fuel burned in the car)

This relationship is dictated by physical laws

It can’t be changed

Meaning that in a ICE the only way to decrease fuel consumption, and respective directly correlated CO2 emissions, is to increase the ICE efficiency.

However, to be competitive, the average efficiency of a regular car rounds 25%

Toyota announced last year a 32% efficient ICE; but hard to put in the market due to the cost

A Formula 1 ICE can achieve close to 50% efficiency; but at what price…

The last EU CO2 regulation for cars and vans (July 2021) establishes a 55% net GHG reductions by 2030.

In other words, it means that the automotive industry should produce, until 2030, an ICE car that consumes 55% less, i.e., something as 1,71 l/100 km.

Even reducing the car weight and power to minimums, technically, it looks like impossible to achieve that target for an ICE.

Audi and other immediately announced that they will discontinue cheaper lines as it’s not possible to get 50 gr/km of CO2 without electrification, a too expensive solution for this segment.

So, the only one solution is “electrification” meaning that 55% of the new cars sold from 2030 on must be Hybrid, PHEV, BEV or any other non-ICE car.
